Andy
You’re listening to The Tradie Show. This is the podcast for trade business and contracting bosses like you, who want to lead with confidence, make more profit and create a better lifestyle.

Ange
We’re your hosts, Andy and Angela Smith, husband & wife team and co-founders of Lifestyle Tradie. Are you ready to have some fun?

Andy
Hell  yeah!

Ange
Hey everyone, seems like we have a clock with us in the studio today.

Andy
Well, it’s close, but not quite.  TikTok, the new fandangle social media platform taking the world by storm.

Ange
Oh, got it. Got it. TikTok. All right. It really has taken over the past few years. I couldn’t even imagine to fathom how much time our kids spend on this thing each week.

Andy
Oh my God. You’re so right, Ange. They just are obsessed with TikTok, aren’t they? And they’re just doing so many weird TikTok dances and getting in the backyard with their mates. Send us a like, man, are you guys on drugs?

Ange
They’re kids. I hope not.

Andy
No, exactly.

Ange
It’s a new trend, isn’t it? With these arms waving around and clicking and clapping. I don’t get it, but whatever makes them happy.

Andy
Yeah, a hundred percent. But it seems like it’s not just teenagers that are hooked. It’s really become a huge platform that most people seem to have these days. Whether you’re posting or you’re just scrolling through what seems to be endless content, which is why so many businesses seem to be moving to the platform to promote themselves, including us tradies.

Ange
Yeah, it really is just another great way to get yourself in front of your customers if that’s where they hang out. So I think social media in general for tradies is just another touch point. You know, I wouldn’t necessarily say that if you’re a plumber and your customer has a burst hot water system, that they’re going to go to social media to find you as a plumber, right? But if you can do it right, you can stay top of mind and it’s more about brand awareness and exposure.

Andy
Yeah, that’s right. I think that’s the key here. It’s that you have to do it right. And our guest for today has really nailed this. So here to give us some insights into social media and TikTok for tradies, it’s viral sensation, Nathan from Nathan’s Lawns and Gardens. Hey, Nathan, how are you going, buddy?

Ange
Hey, Nathan.

Nathan
G’day, how are you going?

Andy
Mate, it’s so good to have you here and we’re really excited to hear your stories. Obviously, a lot of you out there would know him and we certainly do as well. So it’s so good that you could come and have a chat with us today. So what we’re going to start with is let’s just kick off with some basics, Nathan. Um, you’ve got your own mowing business and can you start off by giving us a bit of a rundown on that and where you’re located and how long you’ve been in business?

Nathan
All right. So, um, I am located in Ryde in Sydney. Yes. I have been self employed for just over 15 years  and I do lawn mowing and gardening for many clients throughout Sydney.

Ange
Fantastic. And for those of you who don’t know Nathan, you have this ridiculously impressive following on social media.  Like over 400, 000 on Instagram and a whopping 1. 2 million on TikTok. So you literally record yourself mowing lawns and cutting hedges to perfection. Can you share why on earth you started doing this on social media?

Nathan
Okay. So one night I was watching, I don’t know if you’ve heard of that lady from Dr. Pimple Popper.

Andy
Yes, I have.

Nathan
I was watching some of that kind of stuff and it had finished and then there was a guy mowing a lawn. I was like, this was way back and I was like, this is pretty interesting. I reckon I could do this.  So I thought, you know what, I’m going to get in there and make a video and see what happens. And, um. Yeah, I put one up and it got about five views and I thought that was pretty fantastic.

Andy
So your mum, your dad and your brothers and sisters.

Ange
So what made you keep going? If you did one and only got five views, what happened then?

Nathan
I guess I, when I, I went and decided to do another one, it got a few more views and then I did another one. I got a few more views and I thought, you know what, This might be a new trend. I reckon I can get somewhere with this. So that’s why I keep going with it.

Andy
Mate, that’s unreal. And so just give us a bit of a rundown of how you do that. Obviously you’re mowing lawns and you’re cutting edges. Do you have someone with you to, to film you or do you set it up on a tripod or how, how do you set it all up when you’re doing this?

Nathan
Okay. So I’m, I’m old school. Um, so I don’t have a tripod. Yep. I get my mobile phone. That’s all I use. And I stick it in a shoe. I carry a shoe around with me  and I stick it on an auto bin or my ladder. That’s what I use to film.

Andy
Mate, that’s awesome. That’s awesome. And, and then that’s it. And then you just go home and edit the videos.

Ange
And hang on, hang on. I actually just want to circle back because this is actually really interesting. I want to ask you, Nathan, how do you actually come up with the content in the first place?

Nathan
Okay. Good question. So A lot of it is also looking on the internet, seeing what’s, uh, trending at the moment. And also I think about what I am interested in, in looking at on the internet as well.

Ange
But you mow lawns for a living, so of course you’re interested in it.

Nathan
Yeah, but I, I, I, yes, correct, I mow them, but it’s how can I get them onto the internet where everyone else can actually have a bit of enjoyment of watching them as well. So one of the main things that I’m looking at when I’m recording is  the quick transformation videos or something that’s quick that keeps the attention of the viewers because the longer they are, people can switch off. It’s very hard to keep that entertainment going on, on lawn mowing.

Ange
So how long would you say each of your clips are?

Nathan
Okay. So I find my most successful clips are 15 seconds. That will be a time lapse.

Ange
Oh, wow.

Nathan
Um, and if it’s a big cleanup, I would stretch it. This is, um, everything by YouTube, I would stretch it to about 45 seconds. Anything after that, um, the viewers will switch off.

Andy
Yeah, it’s crazy, isn’t it? It’s a very, uh, response. It’s got to be so quick and sharp. So do you have to start with something that really is eye popping to, To get it like, like, you know, like a messy lawn. Well, maybe not a messy lawn. Like he’s good looking bloke and he’s a tradie. And do you take your shirt off, mate and flex the muscles?

Ange
Why are we laughing so hard?

Nathan
Um,  how did he remember what the question was?

Andy
Well, how do you start? How do you actually start the video to get that real reaction at the beginning?

Nathan
So one of the most important things, and this is all learning by doing that for over the years, one of the most important things is that thumbnail that, that, uh, captioned the picture on the, on the video that people will see straight away, um, on whatever social media channel it is, you’ve got to make that one the good one. So it’s definitely you doing something in that picture that is going to attract those people to go, I want to watch this.

Ange
Give me an example of what, what is, what is that for you? What is one of those images?

Nathan
Like we were saying before, a very overgrown lawn with me standing pretty much in the middle of it, sunk inside it, where people are going, Oh my God, look at this lawn. What’s happening here that will draw people in. Um, or like me, whippersnapping with it close up to the camera, something like that.

Andy
There is. Sorry, are you finding, like, are you, because obviously if they were your customers, they’d never get that long. Like, are you trying to find properties that have real long grass and something interesting and going, wow, that’d be a good video? How, how are you doing that?

Nathan
So good question. So I have my regular clients that I’ve had for many years. I do say it’s lawnmowing every fortnight in summer, monthly, winter, et cetera. But then I also do a lot of cleanup one off jobs for real estate agents or just random people. Um, those ones are the gold for me. Um, Of course, I need their permission first to record. Um, and I have been doing just recently where I will go around and knock on someone’s door. I might do it once a month at the moment and I’ll say, Hey, can I mow your lawn or do a cleanup for free? Um, some people are cool with that and others are like,  leave me alone, basically.

Ange
So, how long does it actually take you, like how many of these you’re actually recording each week and how long do they take?

Nathan
Okay. So, with all the different channels, Instagram is my main channel. I feel it does the best, uh, even though TikTok, I have over a million followers, that’s, that’s a total different social media, um, it’s a hit and miss that one. Yeah. Um. I would basically try, it’s all about consistency as well. Uh, for me, I must be uploading minimum one video per day, minimum, sometimes two.  Um, I found that if you drop off for a few days, uh, it takes a big shit on the algorithm on your accounts.

Andy
So, if you’re doing one or two a day, how much time? So, firstly, how much time do you spend on getting your videos right and posting it on social media? And then secondly, how much time do you do research on social media? So what I’m trying to work out is pretty much how much time are you spending on this?

Nathan
All right. So when I’m just out doing, uh, But for my Instagram or whatever, just a quick time lapse of something, whether it’s just me doing an edge or trimming a whole page or doing a whole lawn, um, I’m only literally doing a time lapse. So my camera is in one spot, so it takes me like literally a minute to set up. And then when I get home, I’m just putting it into fast forward or my app. So that takes me a good three minutes and then two minutes to upload music. So yeah. It’s like five minutes a day when it goes to YouTube where I’ve gotta change the angle of the cameras. I can be spending two hours on a video to get that up.

Andy
And that’s why Instagram’s a bit more of your favorite and  do you, do you, do you actually look at your followers and actually go, who are they? Like, yeah. You know, TikTok to me seems like a younger sort of crowd, but I know that’s changing. But, um, you know, if you look at TikTok versus Instagram, is there an age difference between those two?

Nathan
Yeah. So we’ve, um, TikTok, it is a lot more younger, uh, people on there with Instagram. It is definitely all ages. I do, uh, I do get on there and have a look at, you know, who’s following me or there’s a little section you can check on of, you know, verified people of who, you know, celebrities or what not that follow you. I like to get in there and have a look, you know, like who’s interested in this kind of stuff. Um, there’s some, you know, some odd stuff goes on in, on the internet, but, um,  yeah.

Ange
So Nathan, can you tell us a bit about how it’s benefited your lawn and gardening business?

Nathan
Okay. So we’ve clientele, so I don’t have a website. Um, I’ve never, uh,  bought or paid for a website ever. I’ve always used social media and again, old school, I used to hand out flyers, you know, advertise on the local Facebook groups,

Ange
those flyers still worked by the way.

Nathan
Yeah.  And, um, yeah, so that’s all I ever did. I used to have everyone saying, you need a website, then I just, I never, ever, uh, Decided to get one. Social media has always helped. Have I gained more customers? 100%. I get a lot of people that, you know, inbox me and say, Hey, we’ve seen your work. Can you come out and do something for us? Um, I think the best thing also that I’ve, I’ve gained through social media is I’ve had a lot of big companies come to me and say, Hey, we love your work. Can you do some collaborations or, you know, we want to be, yeah, do sponsorship, whatever. So it’s definitely helped.

Andy
So in regards to that, cause I know, you know, I’ve got some friends that are doing some pretty big stuff in YouTube and they get paid quite a lot really. Um, do you, you don’t get, do you get paid with TikTok and Instagram? Do they do stuff? Cause I don’t even know.

Nathan
Very interesting. Okay, so TikTok,  considering the amount of followers I have and the views that I’ve got. I have not been paid one cent for  TikTok. Uh, if this was in other parts of the world where they do pay, I’d be pretty comfortable right now to be honest. Um, but yeah, YouTube,  that’s something that I’ve just started getting into and that’s growing really quickly at the moment, my channel, and, um, of course that is paid. So, um, That’s interesting. And, um, yeah, I’m, that’s where,

Ange
I love that you’re leading this industry by using social media. I think it’s amazing. It’s funny how, um, how rewarding it is to watch your 15 minute clips and say something looks so revolting, turn it to something of sheer perfection. And I guess that’s what everyone loves about it.

Nathan
Yeah. It’s it’s.  I’ve said this a few times, it’s  a lot of people love that transformation, um, that before and after. And a lot of people, I know many people that their backyard is a mess and they’re like, I don’t want to get out there and do that, but they prefer to sit down and watch someone else talk on TV.

Andy
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It’s funny how, um, times have changed, you know, I, you see a lot of those videos now where it’s people building a fire and then they’re cooking sausages on the fire and it’s just got the little, you know, it’s the ambience and the waterfalls in the background and it’s all that kind of stuff. But so that’s interesting. You’re right. So you’ve got a lot of followers on TikTok 1.2 million, I think we said earlier. So a mate of mine’s got a couple of hundred thousand on YouTube. And he’s getting between four and 5k a month in, in, um, royalties, which is huge. That’s really big money, but TikTok zero, that’s, that’s crazy. And Instagram, sorry, did you say Instagram is zero as well?

Nathan
Uh, we’ve Instagram, well, I, I. I have made money and I have made money through Tik Tok, but not from Tik Tok itself. I’ve had brands come to me and say, Hey, we’ll give you some gear. Um, can you make a video and we’ll, we’ll pay you. Uh, there hasn’t been a huge amount, but there has been some, but with Instagram, I have had many companies come to me and say, Hey, we’ll pay you to put up some videos and whatnot.

Ange
Paid sponsorship can be great.

Nathan
Yeah. A hundred percent.

Andy
So there’s no doubt about it, mate. You’re an absolute killer guy and you’re a viral sensation in the world of Aussie tradies. But, um, was there one video in particular that just exploded for you? Cause I know you said you started off mowing a few lawns, you’re doing a few hedges, and then you started probably getting a little bit better at it, but I’m assuming there’s one video that’s just put you on the map. Would that be fair in saying?

Nathan
A hundred percent. So, right. Last year, uh, it was around April, May or something, I, I had to go out and do, I was just starting, uh, on Instagram and TikTok, it was starting to build instagram was up near 20, 000 followers and Instagram, uh, TikTok, sorry, was up near about 10, 000 as well. So I was just starting to get a bit of momentum. And then I made this one video that I put on TikTok on a Sunday night. I’ve always found that Sunday nights are the best time to to upload and I put a video up. It was a three part, um, cleanup of a driveway, a hedge out the front and a massive overgrown lawn. I made it a video into 45 seconds with music that was most important to is the music that you add to it. Yeah. And, um. I knew before I put it up, I had a feeling, I said to my partner, I reckon this is going to do all right.

Andy
It’s going to blow! It’s going to blow!

Nathan
I thought a million views. I thought, you know, it’s going to hit a million. Within two hours, I uploaded both, both, uh, TikTok and Instagram at the same time. Yeah. And within two hours, it was on about two, three million on TikTok views and it was on about one million on Instagram. I’ve never had such rapid views, uh, in my whole time on social media. And then, yeah, it went on to like 119 million views on TikTok and, um, a hundred.

Andy
What was, was that 119 million views?

Nathan
119. I was in the top.  Uh, I think it was the top 200.  Most viral videos on TikTok for the last year.

Ange
This is the beauty about these platforms when you have global reach, right? You truly are an Aussie sensation.

Andy
Were you, were you just sitting back, cause this would be me, right? If I posted a video, I’m going to hang on, Andy, I reckon this is going to be a good one. You know, I would have sat there with a beer. I would have been watching going, Hey, whoa, whoa, I wouldn’t have slept that night. I went, Whoa, we hit a million. A hundred and nineteen million views.

Ange
That’s madness.

Andy
Did you work the next day? What happened?

Nathan
Pretty much exactly how you said it all. You told me what I was doing. Um, no, it was, it, the funny thing is, is, as I said, I’ve never had a, I’ve had a few videos hit a few million views, but yeah. I’ve never had something so extreme like this and, um, what basically happens when within a few hours, it was up to 10 million views. And even on Instagram, it was up on three, four million, which was crazy in a few, in a few hours. And what happens is your notifications actually turn off. Um, it just shuts down. Um, it shut down for about a week, just blew up the internet. It  just, you can’t find out what’s happening or commenting or anything. Um, but it was like, I was on there. At midnight, I was on there for about an hour just going, this is insane, it’s just crazy.

Andy
Uh, that’s crazy.

Ange
So being a typical Aussie, have you turned around and said to yourself, I need to start mowing lawns in my thongs?

Nathan
Yeah, well the thing, see look, I’ve always done that as a kid in my own home, I know many people that do it, but one thing about that is, I have put a few videos up before in the past, and the one thing about when you put videos up of mowing in your thongs, you get a lot of people on there that will, um, Give you a ribbon, get in you and saying, where’s your safety boots?

Andy
No, it’s funny how it all goes. Isn’t it? But, um, yeah, I could just imagine you that night. So the good thing about that, right. It was a Sunday night. You did this video. You’re like, hang on. I, you know, you said to the misses, hang on, this is going to explode. It did explode. It went nuts. Have you had anything, and that was April, May last year. Have you had anything since then that you’ve felt the same? Or hang on, this one’s going to go, or you always sort of trying to chase that one down.

Ange
Chase the feeling.

Nathan
So yeah, that’s it. So the problem, the problem is about when you go like, like there’s viral and then there’s, you know, for me, it’s something like 119 million views is insane. Yeah. When, when you hit a number like that, the problem about that is people just jump on your page and they’ll follow, but because they get a good feeling or a high or whatever you want to call it. Yeah. The thing is though, when you start uploading videos after, they’re expecting that same kind of feeling.

Andy
So you’re going to lift your game.

Nathan
Yeah, the pressure is on you and it is not, it is not easy to give them that feeling again.

Ange
So these followers turn into scathers and now start writing you like bad messages?

Nathan
Uh, look, I’ve had, I’ve had some, I’ve had my fair share of, Um, comments on, on social media and, um, I learned earlier on, um, I was trying to get monetized or whatever, um, for, I think it was YouTube or something, I actually responded to it, to someone, it wasn’t rude, but I responded and, um, but somehow it got me in trouble and I’ve learned that you just got to have a block or delete.

Ange
If you’ve got much nice to say, don’t say anything at all.

Andy
The tall poppy syndrome’s real and it’s really real in Australia and, and obviously I’ve been there many, many times. I got to a point with my staff too. I go, you know what, if someone puts a bad comment in, just delete it, move on. And you know what, you know, the one thing I don’t want, I don’t want to know about it because I know I’m a good person. We’ve got beautiful people around us, an amazing community. If someone doesn’t like me, I’m cool with it, but don’t tell me about it. Cause at the start, it used to get me down a little bit. Go, okay, what am I going to do differently? What are we going to do? So, mate, that’s so true. You do it really well once everyone’s like, okay, the next one’s going to be amazing. The next one. So you’re really fighting them to, to get back. So  the interesting thing is, I know there’s a lot of tradies that are filming their jobs more and more now, and you know, and some will go, Oh yeah, I, I filmed doing a hot water heater or film doing a basin or a toilet in store. And, and what you’re saying is, And I know a lot of them will be thinking, and obviously I’m talking plumbing being an ex plumber, but you know, it’s something that some people might find interesting, but it’s not really blow your socks off interesting. So you gotta find something that has an angle that is going to make the listeners and the younger people go, Oh, this is amazing.

Nathan
Yeah. I’ve, I’ve had a look on all the different kinds of tradies that are on the social media and there’s a lot of things like, IE painters, they go in there and they just paint a wall and they do before and after that, that can get a lot of views and a lot of attention or carpet cleaners. And then they branch out into trying to stay and clean the carpet, like mowing a lawn, stripes and all that kind of stuff.  Yeah. Yeah.  There’s always people out on the internet world that want to watch something can every trade can make videos of satisfying videos because even building houses, you know, I’m interested in knowing how you do it from as long as it’s in quick and not an hour long video. Um, but yeah, it’s anyone can get on social media and  business.

Andy
So I know one thing with the plumbers, you know, you get a block drain and it can be tree roots in a drain. And then I’ve seen quite a few vials and they start at the roots and then they’re pulling out and it’s like, you know, it’s sewer, it’s, you know, it’s the sewer and they’re dragging it out five meter, 10 meter, 20 meter, 30 meter. And it’s disgusting. And if I was like, Oh my God, is that what lives in our drain?  Yeah. And you’re right. That is like the pimple popper, right? It’s just like, I turn that on and go, how gross. And I’ve got my eyes closed, but they’re slightly open, just ready to watch it explode.

Nathan
But people are still watching.

Ange
They’re watching through their fingers. I need to close when I want.

Andy
Give us a tip right now. Cause obviously you’re doing very well and it’s exploded for you. And you’ve seen a lot of tradies and what they’re doing on social media. If there was a tip that you could give them right now, what would it be to help them have a video that just takes off.

Nathan
It’s, it’s for me, it’s all about consistency. You got to make mistakes. People aren’t going to be interested, but if you just keep having a go, having a crack, um, you got to get that video that’s going to get a bit of attention. And once you get there, anything’s possible for you, for your business.

Andy
No, exactly. Exactly. You just got to have a crack, but as you said, keep doing it every day, post it on a Sunday. Keep it to either 15 seconds to 45 seconds, make sure the very first image is something that attracts people and, and, um, yeah, and then go for it.

Ange
It was actually post every day.

Nathan
Yeah.

Andy
What did I say?

Ange
Post on a Sunday.

Andy
Oh, no, sorry. That’s right. Post every day, but the Sunday night’s the best.

Ange
Is a good night.

Nathan
So I found, as I said, look, it changes from week to week, but I found Sunday nights are a good time. Um, it also depends on your audience too. I have, um, a massive audience from Europe. Yeah. Um, so I’ve also got to say, I think if I want to engage them, I’ve got to be checking on what their time is over there. Um, if it’s in the middle of the day when they’re working, I’m not going to get much attention to my videos. So.

Andy
Okay. Let me ask you that. Does it actually give you a percentage breakdown of  what is in Australia compared to overseas? So what percentage is Australia?

Nathan
Yeah. So.  You know, people may think that a lot of my audience is Australian. I would say about 30 percent of my audience is Australian. Yeah. Most, my biggest audience is actually Brazil.

Ange
Wow.

Andy
Oh, wow. Wow.

Nathan
And with no disrespect, I don’t understand what they’re saying to me. I get a lot of comments and I’m just going to Put the thumbs up and say, thank you. So  I don’t know what I’m, what I’m applying to sometimes.

Ange
Got to stick it through a translator.

Nathan
Yeah, exactly.

Ange
They’re just looking at the good looking tradie and that’s all.

Andy
I’d love it if someone would jump on there and read it. Someone that could read Brazilian and actually tell you what you’re actually thumbsing up, you know, like. That could be an absolute classic, classic.

Ange
So Nathan, that being said, I’m really curious to know where do you see yourself going in the future with this?

Nathan
Okay. So as I said, I’ve been doing this for 15 years. The reality is, and it was my choice to do this, well, people say it’s not a trade, there’s an argument around that, but to go in this game. Um, the reality is, is it will take its toll on your body using this equipment. Um, and it’s not for me, that’s just the reality of it. Yes. So I ain’t going to be able to be doing this the way I’m in another 10, 15 years. So what I want to be doing is making videos. And then hopefully my goal is to be a content creator and maybe just have to go out once a week and go and do someone’s lawn or garden for free and then use what not on the internet and make money through that, that, that is my goal.

Andy
Yeah. And I think a lot of tradies think similar to you. We are all pretty, you know, the, the body does get smashed up over many, many years of being in the hot sun on, on, you know, in the, under the houses, in rooves, whatever it may be for you. And we don’t get any younger. But. Obviously there’s one thing I’ve always noticed with, um, guys doing lawns and edges and that they’re always pretty fit. You know, you’re out in the sun and you’re, you’re sweating it out. There’s no doubt, but you’re right. You can’t do it forever, but we’re really looking forward. And there’s no doubt. Everyone listening today would love to see you in the future, grow some type of business out of this and keep this going. It sounds like. You know, it’s a lot of people are building businesses out of social media these days. There’s no reason why you can’t as well. So

Ange
the beauty of technology, right?

Nathan
Yeah. Times have changed.

Andy
Mate, times have changed, you know? And, um, yeah, it’s crazy. Just even our kids, you know, they can’t go and brush their teeth without watching TikTok at the same state, you know, what are you looking at? He goes, Oh, just this. And, you know, and anyway, so. But hey, buddy, I just want to play a little game with you. We do it always to the people that come for our podcast, but it’s going to do three quick fire questions. You have, you know, 10 to 30 seconds to answer each. Are you ready?

Nathan
I am ready. Let’s go.

Andy
So mate, what’s the number one thing on your bucket list?

Nathan
All right. I’ve done a lot of traveling around the world and I’ve always wanted to go to Hawaii.

Andy
Ange and I’ve never been to Hawaii either.

Ange
I have been to Hawaii.

Andy
I haven’t. Yes. Now we haven’t been there either, but we’ve done a lot of traveling, but, but why Hawaii?

Nathan
Cause I love the beach. I used to surf as a kid. I just want to sit there and watch these big waves and see something and get hammered basically.

Andy
Someone else and go, Whoa, that would have hurt and laugh at the same time.  So mate, the second one, what is your biggest fear?

Nathan
Yeah, that’s, that’s a good one. So I have two actually, uh, I have a fear of needles and my other one is, is my son had open heart surgery when he was a kid and  he’s due for another open heart surgery. And that’s my next fear of when that day will come.

Ange
Best of luck with that.

Andy
Yeah. Best of luck, mate. We’re all with you. I know all our listeners will give you that love. Everyone hands together. Pray, give that love and send the, uh, good vibes. Number three, what is the best piece of advice business related or not that someone has ever said to you?

Nathan
Okay. So in business, I was always taught from a young age, uh, to know your worth. Don’t ever undercut yourself once you start doing that, then you’re starting to undercut your business, charge appropriately and, um, you know, everyone makes mistakes. So, just get up and tomorrow’s a new day.

Andy
Mate, I love that. And I just want to say to everyone out there right now, are you charging what you’re worth? Like, do you, are you really charging? Like I come, no, exactly. I come across so many people and they go, I’m struggling in business and this is hard and that’s hard. And I go, okay, so what do you do? What do you charge? I’m like, mate, no wonder you’re going broke, but there’s no way you can do it for that. I think the other one is owning a trade business is bloody hard. It doesn’t matter what trade you’re in, it’s hard. You’re going to have your high days, you’re going to have your low days. And many of us, many of us have picked ourselves up off the floor and gone, you know, there’s times you’d throw your cots out and that’s it, I’m done. But you pick yourself up the floor, off the floor and you just keep going. So, mate, that is really good advice. And anyone out there, if you don’t know your worth and you’re not charging enough, then make sure you do.

Ange
Yes, absolutely. Nathan, so fabulous that you could join us on the show today. It’s been really great to get an insight into the world of viral social media for tradies.

Andy
Absolutely. And if anyone does want to check out Nathan’s channel, you can search Nathan’s lawns and gardens on all platforms. And we’ll also tag him in on our show notes.

Nathan
Thanks so much for having me. This was fantastic.

Andy
Yeah, buddy. It was really good having you here. You know, you just remind me of a typical, you know, Okka, tradie, like us all, you’re coming in your thongs, you’re mowing your lawn in your thongs. Don’t do that, mate. Safety first. Safety first. But no, mate, it’s been so good to have you here and just to see what has happened and for all our tradies listening to go, you know what? There’s other opportunities. You just got to get the right video at the right time and, but before you know it, you’ve absolutely cracked it just like you have, mate. So thank you very much for joining us today.

Nathan
Absolute pleasure. Thanks for having me.

Ange
That was awesome. For those of you who are on social media but perhaps aren’t using it to the best of its ability or for those who haven’t perhaps even dabbled in it yet, then I suggest you take a note from Nathan’s book and get started ASAP.

Andy
Definitely. And guess what? There’s a lot of us old dogs out there that just don’t necessarily like social media. But, guess what? It’s the way technology and marketing is going these days, so get on it. And until then, we’ll catch you next time.

Ange
See you then.
